Greatness in You

Who is in touch with their subconscious mind? Did you know that around 80% of our brainpower comes from here? Most of our subconscious thought patterns are formed between the ages of 0-8 years old. Studies show that 80% of who we are as adults is formed by age 8 and 95% by the time we hit 18. Think about that for a moment.

When I learned this recently, I was a little overwhelmed. It makes total sense but I hadn’t looked at it from that perspective before. While this suggests that we might not have control over a good portion of our brainpower, we need to focus on the fact that we always have the power to change our subconscious mind and literally re-write it if we need to break negative thought patterns.

Most of our subconscious thought patterns are formed between the ages of 0-8 years old.

How many of us sabotage our efforts? No way!! Right? That is our first thought, however, as we look deeper, we’ll start to see indications of some truth there. Do we ever feel like we are standing still or in a rut? Sure, at times. What is your reaction to thoughts or ideas that pop in your head? Do you write them down so you don’t forget and start acting on them right away? Do you look for support from others before acting? Or do you dismiss them?

I used to be very active, through university and beyond, however, with the busy work schedule I now have, it’s been easy to neglect myself to stay on top of my commitments to others. But what about myself? What about a commitment to me? There was a time where I took time for me yet somewhere along the way that contract with myself, to stay healthy and in great shape slipped through the seams.

This definitely is affected by the state of my subconscious. I can hold up my end of contracts with others, but not myself. Is there a level of unworthiness somewhere buried in my subconscious?

This year is a new year and I’m getting a better understanding of myself. I recently attended a seminar and had my eyes opened.

This year is a new year and I’m getting a better understanding of myself. I recently attended a seminar and had my eyes opened. Although not for everyone, there is definitely something in it for everyone. I am beginning to see the importance of keeping my contract with myself. It starts with me. It starts with you. You are worth time each day - every day!!

I challenge each of you reading this to discover what makes you tick, your habits – both good and bad – and reverse the negative ones to ultimately improve every aspect of your life.  We all have greatness inside of us. We just need to change the way we think and recognize it. I’m starting to see this now. Who’s with me?
