3 months to show time ..... This is my first experience with contest prep  and in a short time I have already realized many of the do's and dont's. Unless you have gone through contest prep you have no idea the physical mental and emotional toll this can take on ones body and mind.
This 3 month time period is crucial to ones success, the key I have learned so far is balance and listening to the message your  body sends you. If you choose to ignore these important messages you are setting your self up for failure.

We enter contests to win of course, we love working hard and show casing the end result these are positive things. How we reach our goal is another story . We push ourselves to the limit we do what ever it takes to cross the finish line, even if this brings harm to our bodies and mind.  we think we can just do a detox and some physiotherapy  to repair, this is far from the truth.

We push ourselves to the limit we do what ever it takes to cross the finish line, even if this brings harm to our bodies and mind.

The mind tells our body what to do so having the right mind set is the foundation that we need to build on. Many people have health issues and may or may not listen to the messages their body is sending, this is where problems may arise.

I have learned many things about my abilities on this journey even with all the struggles and tears. The truth is when I started out on this path I had a certain mind set, and it was I will do what it takes to reach the stage this summer, no matter what. Being positive is one thing being ruthless is another.

I had a vision in my mind and I could see the end results and it was amazing. I started off this journey with determination drive and excitement and here I am 3 months out with a different mind set. This path I am on has changed me in many ways all for the better , I still feel the same wonderful feelings as before the only difference is now faith and love is my driving force . We all face challenges on our journeys, I always try to work through each challenge safely so I may continue on.

When we choose to enter a competition we choose to dedicate our selves to the hard work and time necessary to reach our goal. who we bring on our journey is just as important, for me I had to have the right dr's and trainer working with me to help me reach my goal . I live in a city where there are no shortage of trainers, picking the right one for me was no easy  task. I needed so much more than a trainer who scored high on their exam. I needed a individual that had the heart patience and interest in my goal.

This took some time but when i found my perfect fit it was like I won the lottery lol. Many trainers were not keen on training someone with POTS and what came with it. I have been blessed to find a trainer who embraced my goal and has been right by my side the whole time. This is not just a business deal this is an amazing relationship that I cherish.

Without this individual I would not be so close to my goal .  I know first hand as a trainer myself what it truly takes to work with clients with special needs .i would to take the time to thank my trainer for sharing this incredible journey. I can't wait for show time when he will be sitting in the crowd with my family and friends cheering me. He is not just my trainer Sylvain Cyr  he is my guardian angel in the gym . Whether it be vertigo or a torn retina that I will be getting surgery for  May 11 th, my trainer is always there supporting and comforting me.

The next three months will go fast and once the show is over I plan on still seeing my trainer for for continued guidance and support. My advice when it comes to selecting a trainer take your time and find the right match, you are not buying a pair of shoes you are trusting another person with your body and  goals so do your research and chose well .

The next step is posing classes to learn how to present myself on stage, this is equally important to how my body looks  when it is show time there will be a stage filled with fit and beautiful woman .the way I  present and carry myself will be key.  Sharing my success and not just being a number  is important to me. So posing classes will give me the opportunity to let the judges and audience see how I am enjoying all my hard work, and  that I reached my goal.

There is a concept that I love that many cultures claim to be true, this is called walking mindfully. This means That your brain can not dwell on problems when the body is physically active. This is a huge part of why I love working out, In the hour or so that I am training my mind only focuses on the positives, and the results I will receive.

In this time there is no POTS just me moving my body and feeling like my true self. Everything always comes back to the mind, so care for your mind body and soul as one and you are guaranteed success.

I have been in the fitness industry for over 10 years; I started my career as a personal trainer working with incredible clients with some serious health issues. When my own daughter needed heart surgery I decided to create a program for teen girls called lil divas fitness to accommodate my daughter as well as other girls in the community. This program was close to my own heart as a child I faced many challenges of my own with self esteem and poor body image, so lil divas seemed like the perfect approach using exercise, and a combination of tools for these girls to learn how to love and care for themselves.

When I was diagnosed 4 years ago with POTS everything came to a halt including my diva classes, which was a heart breaking time for me and I had to step back and take care of my own health. So here I am today on this incredible journey that I was told would never happen. I have many challenges ahead of me before I reach my goal, but in the meantime I am embracing every moment along the way until my feet touch the stage this July for my first bikini competition.  My plan after the show is to focus on working with individuals who have health issues that desire to reach their own fitness goals.
