With the start of the New Year, the common question that often ponders one’s MIND is should I compete or should I take some time off? The case with most is either 1 or 2 situations: The new competitor or the veteran competitor, each in any case afraid of leaving the stage…and then what?
Sound familiar? Most athletes are afraid to make the decision to leave the stage and pursue other goals or activities at fear they will be forgotten. My advice to you is this. Ask yourself , what are your goals and what is it you are seeking at the end of the day? For some competing is simply a passion and they are okay with whatever placing they receive. For others, it’s a do or die situation that takes over their mind if they don’t win or at least place in the top 5. Outside of this you have to ask yourself, do you enjoy the journey and not the destination? These are very important questions that will help you decide.
Remember competing doesn’t make you are break you…it's what you do with it…and how you MARKET YOURSELF OFF STAGE THAT REALLY COUNTS! This is another whole topic of discussion.
To be continued next week ….
