CONTEST FAQ

Who is eligible?
All females worldwide

Are there age restrictions?
18 years and older

How many times can I enter?
If you do not qualify in a given month, you can enter as often as you'd like. In order to be eligible for additional contests, we must receive a request through our registration form page. Those with less than 300 votes per contest may not be granted a second entry. People can vote up to five times a day, so it's quite easy to reach 300 votes with minimal work. Please note: Entries that do not receive a minimum of five votes a week into a contest month may be removed by the editors without notice.

Whose photos can I submit?
Any photographer's provided you have the photographer's permission. This is important. So, models, please ask the photographer how you can use your images before paying a deposit to shoot. Some photographers restrict models from promotional useage. Status Fitness assumes the model has full rights to submit photos to our contest. We will remove any photos requested by a photographer at our earliest convenience. That said, this is a great opportunity for new photographers to be noticed by Status Fitness staff, other models and the voting public. We will assume models have the rights to submit any photos we recieve. The model will be held accountable for any copyright infringement. Any disagreement is between the model and photographer. For print, we need expressed release from the photographer, also, we will accept only photos and their likeness, that are shot exclusively for Status Fitness. We will not accept photos that appear anywhere online, in social media, or in print elsewhere. NO exceptions.

Do photos have to be professional?
No. Not for contest portion of the model search. Final photos for print MUST be professional or they may be rejected. If you have a strong network of supporters that know you would make a great cover model, then that will likely be enough to move you into the finals. However, professional photos really help in the finals when our photographer judging panel evaluate a model from her submitted image. Our judges are instructed to look for a pretty face and fit body - one that is of a fitness level that will inspire and motivate others in the industry as well as mainstream. Our judges are also instructed in the finals to look at personality - in the photos and in a model's correspondance with friends, family and fans beside her photos.

If you place in the Top 100 after our social media and photographer judging process, you will need to provide a high resolution PROFESSIONAL photograph that meets the high standard of photography always present in Status Fitness. No classless, tasteless, overtly sexy photos will be accepted. If photos do not meet our strict criteria, you may be bumped to a position between 2 and 100. We REQUIRE ONLY professional photos, never before seen, or any likeness thereof, for the winner. THIS IS A MUST!!! Photos will be rejected if the submitted shots, or the likeness of the same, are public. This means, we will not accept any photos that have been shared on social media, posted online, or submitted to any other magazine or webzine. Those placing 2-100, average photos/snapshots may not be accepted for print. To view top photographers regularly printed in our magazine, look through the latest issue for photo credits. Deadline for high resolution print photos (minimum of 3MB, vertical format), along with written photographer release, is August 1 of the same year as the finals. We feel this gives ample time to secure a high quality professional image.

What style photos?
Any image that showcases a fit physique. Vertical (portrait format) photos work best.

Can I submit sexy photos?
Yes, as long as there is no nudity, implied nudity nor overtly sexual in expression or pose. We do not want "butt shots" in thongs nor tops that barely cover the breasts. Status Fitness reserves the right to dismiss any image without notice.

Do I need to fill out all the portions of the registration page?
Yes. Use this section to promote yourself. Many top industry people will see this. Good writing skills and self-promotion is a huge plus in the fitness industry. Please, no ALL UPPER CASE entries, they will not be posted.

When can I see my photos?
Contest entry profiles should be visible in the first few days of the month depending on staffing schedules. You will recieve an email telling you your photos have been added within a day of the additions. Typically, all profiles are added within a one day window to keep voting opportunities fair.

What size photos can I submit?
Ideally 720 pixels on the vertical side, need to be under 600kb. Nothing smaller than 600 pixels on the longest side or the system won't be able to run the image. Also, you will get an error if your photos are too large and will have to resubmit.

How many photos can I submit?
On the registration page we allow you to attach 5 images. We may request more to add to your contest profile.

How many times a day can I vote?
Five times a day in 24 hours. The 24 hour time frame starts after your 5th vote.

Why can someone vote five times a day?
Simple. Each entry likely has friends and family that vote regularly BUT there are a lot more visitors to the site that don't know any of the contestants and want to vote for multiple models. This is the reason we have set the voting number to five. When it's five times a day, it's even across the board.

Who Can Vote?
Anyone can vote. The more people you have voting, the better chance of placing at the top. If we determine anyone falsifying emails/votes, the model in question will be disqualified permanently.

Why set vote limits by email rather than IP address?
Most people have access to Dynamic IPs which is easier to change than setting up multiple email accounts. We can review email accounts and compare them to IP address which is stored securely as people register.

When can I enter?
Anytime. If we receive your entry within one day of a contest month, then you will be entered into the following month.

How do I win?
Winners are chosen by total votes in a contest period. The contestant with the most votes in a month wins. The four runners-up will be the next four contestants with the most votes. There will be a select number of Editor's Choices each month. At the end of the 12 month contest period, we will have a total of 100+ (typically 120) unique models selected. This group will advance to the finals on the social medium of Facebook. The judging will consist of 50% from online votes (Likes and Shares) and 50% from top North American fitness photographer judging panel. There will be bonus points given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd most online vote receivers.  As well there will be bonus points given to each photographer votes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place selections.  Bonus points will be given out at a rate of 3rd = 2x, 2nd, = 4x, and 1st = 8x. We use a mathematical formula to ensure voting is based on numbers so there is no bias towards a model. We do not place models in order based on companies they work for, or their contribution to our publication. We do not automatically add models to our contest. Models and photographers can submit. We conduct the contest with the utmost integrity. Each of the top 100 models will be printed in a future Status Fitness issue. Please note: Models without high quality professional, fully released images can not be considered for print.

Status Fitness is proud to be the first fitness publication to utilize the social media networks of Facebook and Twitter for the 2009/2010 Cover Model Contest. Status Fitness is a leader and creates genuine, unique opportunities that promote the models and athletes optimally.

If I win, what photos will be published?
Status Fitness reserves the right to decline photos that do not meet a level of style and quality that would maintain Status Fitness's highest industry standard. You can still win the monthly portion of the contest with unprofessional images, but before your feature will be run, you will be required to supply a photo that meets Status Fitness high standards. This may require you to arrange a photo shoot for the feature. If this is the case, then it's best advised that you shoot with a photographer that is regularly featured as he/she will be familiar with the quality desired. Please note, photos will be rejected if the submitted shots, or the likeness of the same, are made public. This means, we will not accept any photos that have been shared on social media, posted online, or submitted to any other magazine or webzine.

Status Fitness features the top athletes on it's cover and utilizes the photography skills of the best photographers in the industry. Industry leading photographer David Ford shoots the majority of our covers. We will have the winning model submit photos for the cover and layout, however, if the images don't meet our highest standards, then we suggest you contact one of our regular contributing photographers to make arrangements to shoot what is needed for print.

If photos are submitted, who owns the rights?
Status Fitness will share the rights with those that initially own the rights to the photos. Status Fitness will only use the photos in conjunction with the contest and will provide credit if information is provided by the model upon entry. Status makes no monetary gain from the usage of any submitted photos. Since the photos are in low rez, there is no chance of images being used for stand alone print. If Status Fitness wishes to publish the photos, Status Fitness will request the images in high rez from the model. Photographers, please note that Status Fitness has the right to, and will, reject any photos that have been shared online, or submitted to another magazine.
