2011 has been a journey of sorts for me on a photographical level. 2010 was an extremely busy year and busy often sees a focus on quantity rather than quality. I would never compromise quality, however, in the quest to fulfill all the shoots and assignments asked of me, it was inevitable to lose sight of what lead me into a career of photography - creativity. 2011 saw somewhat of an evolution for me - a return to focus on what initially inspired me to take up photography.
Speaking with a number of highly successful trainers, they had the same story to tell. At different junctures in their careers they took on too many clients. Cookie cutter diets and training plans were the only way they could keep up. Somewhere in the mix of "busy-ness" was their passion. Like myself with my photography, they too stepped back to reassess.
There comes a point where business is not about the money, it's about fullfillment and happiness. There is a reason you chose the business path you did. For myself, I feel my business needs to be about staying in touch with my passion and following it. Of course a living needs to be made, but I find that business reaps multiple benefits when I take the time, enjoy it, and give my client more then they expect.
