Favorite Sports Supplements: Gold Medal Protein
Bio: I am a 35yr old Registered Nurse and mother of 3 beautiful kids. I was a single mother of a 4yr - 1.5yr and 8 month old at the age of 26yrs. As my sister puts it, what I have been through in the last 10 yrs people don't go through in a lifetime. I was a smoker and ate very unhealthy, 3.5 yrs ago I quit smoking and needed a new addiction so I decided to hit the gym, from there the rest is history. I have conquered a lot from training and competing, it has increased my self esteem and I feel good about myself for the first time (body image issues). I have never felt so good in my life as I feel now. I finally feel whole.
Favorite Quote(s): "If you are hurt, whether in mind or body, don't nurse your bruises. Get up and light-heartedly, courageously, good temperedly get ready for the next encounter. This is the only way to take life - this is also 'playing' the game!" - Emily Post
Nutrition / Supplements: I believe that food fuels my body. I try to eat healthy most of the time, of course I will have a cheat here or there. I try to incorporate healthy eating in every meal, I think teaching the kids healthy eating at a young age will stay with them as they get older. I love my Gold Medal protein and lots of Glutamine (MuscleTech).
Training: Right now I train 4 days a week, I am muscle building so rest is very important. Mon - leg day, Wed - chest, Fri - back, Sun - Bi's and Tri's. My sessions are 50-60min max. I use to be in the gym 6 days a week so when I started this program it was a huge adjustment for me but its the best results I have gotten yet.
What separates Status Fitness from any other fitness magazine: When I first started training I turned to Oxygen magazine as a resource for training and diet but began to really challenge myself in the gym so needed a magazine that would give me something different and at that time I turned to Hers Muscle & Fitness. As I started to challenge myself more I realized that I needed to look for other resources from other magazines that is when "Status" stood out to me. I loved the original look to it, it was hardcore, soft and edgy all in one. It definitely caught my eye. What I really enjoy about Status Magazine is the great nutritional, training, supplement articles along with interesting athletes. Status magazine was this all rolled into one.
Being on the cover of Status: I have been working really hard in the past 3 yrs. I do not believe in an off season, I believe that this is a lifestyle. I compete for the love of it and its a yearly goal for me to push and get my body where I think it should be. I have 3 kids and want to be a inspiration to all women, I want them to see that just because you have kids doesn't mean you can't accomplish a healthy lifestyle and and look great.
