OMEGA 3 AND PROTEIN

OMEGA 3 AND PROTEIN
On Monday 7th of February 2011 04:10:56 PM

We all know that Whey Protein Isolate stimulates increases lean muscle. A medical study was done on cancer patients (who often lose muscle tissue quickly) to see if the addition of EPA (an Omega3 component of Fish Oil, Eicosapentaenoic Acid) would create a more favorable outcome for these patients.

The interesting thing about this study is that they only received 16 g of protein, and the level of protein absorption is not not likely to have been nearly as good as something like ISOFLEX. It does however tell us that the addition of Omega3s has a net gain effect on lean muscle tissue.

The amount used in this study was 1.5 g of EPA, which if you do the conversion into our OMEGA3 FISH OIL (180 mg EPA per softgel) would be about 8 softgels. Other studies have shown numerous times that increases in cold-water fish oils rich in Omega3 DHA and EPA have a major impact on increasing lean muscle tissue all by themselves.

The concept that EPA (and very likely DHA, perhaps even to a greater extent) would have an additive effect on the increase in lean muscle created by increased levels of Whey Protein Isolate is far from a stretch. Whey Protein Isolates like ISOFLEX create a major spike in the blood plasma level of Amino Acids. This in turn creates a rapid increase in Protein Synthesis, or Muscle Growth.
